Rest assured that even if you don’t buy an operating system, our rigorous Quality Assurance and Burn-In tests en sure you receive a thoroughly tested and completely clean new system.

Software and Hardware Support

Computer systems bought with a preinstalled Linux operating system are covered by free limited lifetime technical support. Our technicians are available to make their best effort to answer your technical questions regarding your computer. Due to the complexity and ever-changing nature of open source and alternative software, we may not have all of the answers. Thankfully, an amazing network of community support exists behind all of the major Linux distributions. Computer systems purchased from us with No Operating System are covered only by our hardware warranty.

We suggest these Linux flavors for use with our computer systems for many reasons including their popularity, ease of use, ease of installation, and strong community backing. Don’t despair if your distribution of choice doesn’t make this list. Our expert technicians are familiar with many more distros. Ubuntu Linux Desktop Edition
With Ubuntu Desktop Edition you can surf the web, read email, create documents and spreadsheets, edit images and much more. We've done all the hard work for you. Once Ubuntu is installed, all the basics are in place so that your system will be immediately usable. Need more software? Simply choose from thousands of software packages in the Ubuntu catalogue, all available to download and install at the click of a button. And it's all completely free!

Fedora Core Linux
Fedora is a Linux based operating system that provides users with access to the latest free and open source software, in a stable, secure and easy to manage form. Fedora is the largest of many free software creations of the Fedora Project, a partnership of free software community members from around the globe. Because of its predominance, the word "Fedora" is often used interchangeably to mean both the Fedora Project and the Fedora operating system.

Novell openSUSE Linux
The openSUSE project is a worldwide community project sponsored by Novell that promotes the use of Linux everywhere. The openSUSE Project provides free and easy access to openSUSE. With openSUSE you can find and join a community of users and developers, who all have the same goal in mind — to create and distribute the world's most usable Linux. openSUSE also provides the base for Novell's award-winning SUSE Linux Enterprise products.

Linux Options Recommended for Servers, Storage, Blades, and Workstations

Red Hat® Enterprise Linux
Red Hat Enterprise Linux is available in two variants for servers. A base Red Hat Enterprise Linux server is designed for small deployments while Red Hat Enterprise Linux Advanced Platform is designed for mainstream customers and provides the most cost-effective, flexible, and scalable environment. Both versions are based on common core technology. Both include a comprehensive suite of open source server applications and virtualization capabilities.

Ubuntu Linux Server Edition
The Ubuntu Server Edition - built on the solid foundation of Debian which is known for its robust server installations — has a strong heritage for reliable performance and predictable evolution. The Ubuntu Server Edition is changing the server market for businesses by delivering the best of free software on a stable, fully supported and secure platform. CentOS Enterprise Linux
CentOS is an Enterprise-class Linux Distribution derived from sources freely provided to the public by a prominent North American Enterprise Linux vendor. CentOS conforms fully with the upstream vendors redistribution policy and aims to be 100% binary compatible. CentOS mainly changes packages to remove upstream vendor branding and artwork.
